Panofsky – postscript

Cyrus H. Gordon, who was a personal acquaintance of Panofsky’s and who translated captions etc. for one of Panofsky’s papers  – as cited in my previous post – has another connection to Voynich studies. One of Gordon’s sharp maxims was quoted on the old mailing list by Michael Theroux (31 Jan 94).

“The intelligent reader will judge for himself. Without examining the facts fully and fairly, there is no way of knowing whether vox populi is really vox dei, or merely vox asinorum.”
